  • I started my love-affair with the dance music scene in 1995, going to what was in those days an underground Rave scene. Having watched the likes of Tony de Vit, Carl Cox, Paul Oakenfold, Paul van Dyk, Mrs Wood, Blu Peter, Sasha and John Digweed, I was inspired in early 1998 to take up the art of mixing vinyl myself. Taking to it like a duck to water, I quickly found my style was more suited to Trance, where long, smooth technical mixes are required. In my pursuit for perfection as a DJ, I was fortunate enough to play at the likes of ESP, Nexus, 96 degrees (to name some of the clubs) and at various underground parties around South Africa. I even tried my hand at promoting and organizing my own events, the most notable for me held at DNA in Pretoria. My most memorable moment though was DJing for 6 hours at party held in an old abandoned workshop in Bulawayo in Zimbabwe. Wow, those people knew how to party!!!!
Then, due to the demands of my “day job”, I hung up my headphones and took a break from this passion of mine. Now, I return to a Trance scene, reinvented and reinvigorated and find that the music is finally at where I wanted it to be 10 years ago. Trance 2.0 is awesome, so much more banging, uplifting and structured with so much new talent that I’m completely blown away by how amazing they all are. Much to my amazement as well, house has changed with new styles like Dubstep, Fidget and, my new favourite, Minimal coming to the fore. The dichotomy of the Uplifting style of Trance I play, together with the Dark, Sexy, Dirty Minimal Tech I’ve fallen in love with is truly sweet. As they say, the pendulum swings and one can only appreciate the light if one has been in the dark (and vice versa). So here’s looking to a bright new future for this ambitious and passionate up and coming Star….
